Coomer Truffles – Arrival Expected Mid June
ABOUT
Coomer Truffles are sourced from the picturesque cool climate of the southern forest region of Manjimup in Western Australia – the region where some of the best crops of Tuber Melanosoporum (true French black winter truffle Perigord genus) are being produced in Australia, thanks to the climate and rich Karri loam soil.
We are taking pre-orders each week so your truffles are harvested fresh. Friday order cut-offs for collection in-store the following Thursday/Friday. Starting from the beginning of June, place your pre-order at your local SJ store - the first truffle harvest due around Friday 16th of June. Weekly harvests expected to run for about six weeks.
David planted 1400 hazelnut trees on his small, family owned farm over fifteen years ago – with his first viable crop coming in 2016 - and this is looking like one of the best seasons yet for both quality and quantity. We place our orders directly with David and he heads out to the truffle orchard with Twiggy and Olive (his English pointers) to hunt out the truffles that are ready for harvest that day. David then cleans, grades and packs the truffles, takes them to the airport to ship to us and we deliver direct to you.
This is a true paddock to plate producer. Picked, graded and packed to your requirements by the grower. The season will start only when the truffles have reached maturity and are at their very best. Never before.
