Banana Split with Chocolate Sauce
This recipe delivers all the retro flavours that you'll remember from your youth. We upgraded the classic banana split with our take on 'magic' chocolate sauce using Valrhona chocolate and added other favourites including Agrimontana sour cherries, PONS caramelised almonds and our pure butter wafers for a nostalgic treat.

Ingredients
Magic Chocolate Sauce - makes approximately 1 cup of sauce
- 200g Valrhona Chocolate Feves we used Manjari 64%Â for our recipe
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
Banana Split Sundae - measurements are per person
- 1 banana split lengthwaysÂ
- 1 tbsp Agrimontana Amarene Sour Cherries in Syrup
- 2-3 scoops ice-creamÂ
- 1 tbsp PONS Caramelised Almonds crushed
- ready whipped cream
- 1-2 Pure Butter Wafers to garnish
- 2-3 maraschino cherries to garnish
Instructions
Magic Chocolate Sauce
- In a small heat proof mixing bowl add the chocolate and coconut oil. Heat in the microwave in 1 minute bursts, stirring regularly until all the chocolate is melted until it is emulsified with the oil.
- Cover bowl with cling wrap and keep at room temperature until you're ready to assemble the dessert.
Banana Split Sundae
- Split banana lengthways and add to each individual serving bowl, arranging bananas side by side in the base of the bowl.
- Spoon sour cherries over the base of the bowl, adding a little of the syrup from the jar.
- Add ice cream, followed by a generous drizzle of magic chocolate sauce. Allow to set and harden before adding some ready whipped cream.
- Sprinkle crushed almonds over the top of the cream. Add a wafer and maraschino cherries as a garnish before serving.
